Standardized Testing Should Be Abolished in American.
Children are not learning, according to standardized testing scores. The government, parents, and teachers are at odds as to why this is. They all share a common goal: to give our children the best education possible, but there are many different ideas as to how this should be accomplished.
Arguments Against Standardized Testing Essay. reflected through, but not limited to, standardized test and the individuals GPA. Today students go to school from K-12 earning their education and take a standardized test during their junior or senior years (sometimes sophomore year).
Standardized tests standardize, not improve. I do not believe that standardized tests improve education in America. Because standardized tests are so important in the United States for evaluating teacher and student performance, many teachers teach specifically for the standardized test, focusing exclusively on the test content in order to boost student scores and thus their own perceived.
Despite their widespread use, the validity, quality, or use of tests, particularly standardized tests in education have continued to be widely supported or criticized. Like the tests themselves, supports and criticisms of tests are often varied and may come from a variety of sources such as parents, test takers, instructors, business groups, universities, or governmental watchdogs.
The use of standardized tests, in fact, resulted in a narrowing of the curriculum so that there would be alignment between the test administered and the curriculum taught. Students would learn less, but more would be able to reach required scores for promotion. This is, of course, the problem at the heart of the “teaches to the test” conundrum.
The innovators responsible for the development of the scientific standardized test—e.g., Binet, Simon, Rice, Thorndike—though, likely would be amazed by the improvements made in testing technology within the relatively brief period since—e.g., computer-adaptive testing or open-source, Web-based platforms, such as the Examination Assessment Management System (ExAMS).
The Argument: Pros Standardized Testing Has Not Improved Student Achievement Allows students to realize their talents Low costs and little class time Causes students to watch less television The pressure caused by these tests are advisable for the future welfare of the students.
